The mission behind BIPOLAR
Hey, thank you for visiting my site! My name is Raven-Satori, and I believe my purpose is to inspire others to embrace mental vulnerability. BIPOLAR is my creative catalyst to end the taboo of mental health, particularly in minority communities. A lot of my designs feature written phrases used to spark conversations about mental health. Minority groups are often taught to hide their emotions to project an image of strength. However, this has lead to large communities clinging to generations of untreated trauma. This trauma causes actions that uphold the negative stereotypes that surround them. I know this because I've lived it. As a young black woman when I'd become vulnerable I was often told that I was stronger than most so this too would pass. I knew deep down that I needed professional help, but even when I did go to a therapist I played the role of the strong black woman I was told to be. In order to move forward though, I had to start being true to myself and the people around me. I found that when I was vulnerable, I learned, I grew, I became stronger. I believe that taking mental vulnerability out of the shadows will validate those who feel they have been forgotten. Your emotions are valid, you are valid, and here at BIPOLAR, you are celebrated.
